Overview

These terms apply to your use of the One Step Ahead application for macOS and iOS and the website onestepahead.info, both operated by Solid Software Lab, Berlin, Germany. By using the app or this website, you agree to these terms.

The App

Licence

One Step Ahead is provided as a free application. You are granted a non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the app on Apple devices you own or control, subject to the App Store Terms of Service.

Your Responsibility for Your Data

One Step Ahead is a tool for protecting and distributing sensitive data. You are solely responsible for:

• The security of the fragments you generate and where you store them
• Ensuring you retain access to at least two of the three fragments required for recovery
• The accuracy of the data you enter into the app
• Testing recovery before treating any backup as reliable

Solid Software Lab is not responsible for data loss resulting from loss of fragments, device failure, user error, or any other cause.

No Warranty

One Step Ahead is provided as-is without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We make no guarantee that the app will be free of bugs, available at all times, or suitable for any particular purpose.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Solid Software Lab is not liable for any loss of data, loss of funds, or other damages arising from your use of One Step Ahead. The security architecture is documented in the White Paper — please read it before using the app to protect high-value assets.

Prohibited Use

You may not use One Step Ahead for any unlawful purpose or in any way that violates applicable local, national, or international law or regulation.

This Website

The content on onestepahead.info is provided for informational purposes. We make reasonable efforts to keep it accurate and up to date but make no guarantees regarding completeness or accuracy.

We reserve the right to modify or discontinue any part of the website at any time without notice.

Intellectual Property

All content on this website — text, images, graphics, and the One Step Ahead app — is the intellectual property of Solid Software Lab unless otherwise stated. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without explicit written permission.

Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of Germany. Any disputes arising from these terms or your use of One Step Ahead shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Berlin, Germany.
