We are a small team based in Berlin, Germany, focused on building security tools that work entirely offline and put users back in control of their own data.
One Step Ahead is our answer to a security industry that too often asks for trust instead of offering transparency. Most security tools tell you they are secure. We show you how — and we publish the technical details so you can verify it yourself.
We are not a large company with a long list of products. We build things we believe in, we document how they work, and we make sure you are never dependent on us to recover your own data.
Why We Built One Step Ahead
The problem was not a lack of security tools. It was a lack of honest ones.
The Problem We Saw
Most security tools have hidden dependencies — cloud services, vendor backends, proprietary recovery paths. They work until they don't. And when they fail, recovery is often impossible or entirely dependent on the vendor still existing.
The Standard We Set
Every design decision in One Step Ahead is documented and auditable. The cryptographic architecture is published in a public White Paper. Independent reconstruction without the app is explicitly supported. We are never a single point of failure for your recovery.
The People We Build For
Anyone who has something irreplaceable to protect and does not want to rely on a company, a cloud service, or a single device to keep it safe. Crypto holders, privacy-conscious individuals, and anyone who has thought about what happens if one thing goes wrong.
